A few of us had a very nice meeting last night. The weather was not favourable and we couldn`t visit V`s garden, so we went right into the discussion of just everything, including political parties and the current state of Portugal.
D said that there is a new party being created by Antonio Marinho Pinto, a man he says seems to be respectable and honest (ex-“Partido da Terra” member, ex boss of the Ordem dos Advogados). Here is a link to some info about the new party PDR: http://portocanal.sapo.pt/noticia/38771/
We also spoke about the TED talk about remittances which shows that foreign aid could be cut down if we allowed refugees to work in the country of choice. They are sending as much money as possible home to their families and support their community much more effectively. Here is the link:

62 Reuniao Madeira Consorcio ToBinG 17.7.2014
Tivemos como sempre, tivemos uma conversa interessante!
D está muito decepcionado com a reação que recebemos dos madeirenses às nossas iniciativas. Ele não ouviu falar do Continente, e U não tem sucesso com o Pingo Doce, para ser autorizado a distribuir os nossos manuais de incêndio nos supermercados. D também está decepcionado com os produtores de cesta de praia; precisavam demasiado tempo para produzir a amostra em tamanho natural, e isso não é feito para as especificações que queríamos.
A Madeira Consorcio agora tem poucos membros e, como podemos ver, desde que começamos nosso trabalho, muitos de nós estão decepcionados como D, e muitos acham que é um desperdício da nossa energia para tentar ajudar os madeirenses. Nós também temos dificuldades para encontrar novos membros pró-ativas com o entusiasmo necessário.
O que vai mudar agora:
A Madeira Consorcia estará mudando de direção. U e V vão continuar com o projeto das ervas e U vai tentar terminar o projeto de cesta de praia. Então teremos uma ou duas reuniões por mês, em vários lugares, inclusive em nossas casas, para falar sobre as questões que nos interessam.
O que não irá alterar:
Muitos de nós tornaram-se amigos; vamos ficar em contato, e falar e falar até nossos ouvidos cair, porque ainda temos bons cérebros para discutir questões difíceis!
Notícias:
cesta: U vai tentar convencer P para colocá-lo na área de recepção para que P encomenda cestas de praia para os seus hotéis de praia. Mas, então, eles vão provavelmente comprar as da China, como aos produtores aqui são muito caros e não são muito interessados na idéia.
U falou sobre a resposta que recebeu do Provedor de Justiça (Ombudsman), em relação ao seu pedido de atualização do simulador de Pensões da Segurança Social (funciona apenas para um ano de previsão agora).
O Provedor não é de opinião que o simulador deve dar às pessoas a oportunidade de calcular a sua pensão para os anos vindouros. Ele diz que não se deve incutir nas pessoas um sentimento de esperança irrealista … para uma boa pensão, isso é. O grupo disse que o Estado não quer que os cidadãos perceberem o valor reduzido das suas pensão no final. Por outro lado, se os cidadãos sabem do problema agora. poderiam tomar já agora precauções e (se possível) começar um fundo de previdência privada.
A pergunta: qual o instrumento mais eficaz para defender os cidadãos em tais situações? Deco parece boa, mas a experiência mostrou que não é muito eficaz, também. O Livro de Reclamações é ainda a melhor ferramenta para obter serviços (mas não instituições) para melhorar os seus serviços. Precisamos de uma ferramenta contra as instituições.
Falamos sobre o interesse de outras nações para copiar o modelo “alemão” de aprendizagem, que combina formação teórica e prática. Isso depende muito de uma boa colaboração entre as escolas e pequena e média indústria de tamanho e não pode ser facilmente aplicado em outros países. E teve outra temporada de sucesso de seu curso Oceanográfico com a Universidade de Leicester; seu coordenador quer enviar mais alunos no próximo ano. E também vai tentar criar um outro curso para a permacultura orgânica. Portanto, há uma Universidade de Verão em desenvolvimento, mas, neste momento, apenas para os alunos, e não para os turistas.

A Câmara Municipal do Funchal está agora aberto ao público: durante a semana, os visitantes podem, para o custo de 3,50 € /adulto, visitar o Assembleia , o “Salão Nobre”, utilizado para comemorações – este é o lugar onde você iria receber um prêmio da cidade se você fosse para obter um – e outras salas. As visitas guiadas começam às 10h, 11h, 02:00, 15:00 e 04:00. Uma vez que as obras terminaram na torre do edifício, esta será incluída também. U irá organizar uma visita lá para o grupo em agosto.
Nossa próxima reunião ToBinG é no dia 21 de agosto. No futuro, este será um grupo de discussão, para o benefício dos membros participantes. Ainda assim, grandes idéias virá-lo!

As always, we had an interesting conversation!
D is very disappointed with the reaction we received from the Madeirans to our initiatives. He has not heard from Continente, and U has no success with Pingo Doce, to be allowed to distribute our Fire Manuals in the supermarkets. He is also disappointed with the beach basket producers; it took way to long to produce the life size sample, and it is not made to the specifications we wanted.
The Madeira Consorcio now has few members and as we can see, since we started our work, many of us are disappointed as D, and many feel that it is a waste of our energy to try to help the Madeirans. We also have difficulties to find new pro-active members with the necessary enthusiasm.
What will change now:
The Madeira Consorcia will be changing direction. U and V will continue with the herbs project and U will try to finish the Beach Basket project. Then we shall have one or two meetings a month in various places, also in our homes, to talk about issues that interest us.
What will not change:
Many of us have become friends; we are going to stay in touch, and talk and talk until our ears fall off, because we still have good brains to discuss difficult issues!
News:
Basket: U will try to get P to place it in the Reception area so that P gets beach baskets for their hotels. But they will then probably buy from China, as our people are too expensive and not very interested in the idea.
U spoke about the response she received from the Provedor de Justica (our kind of Ombudsman) in regards to her request for a update of the Social Security Pension simulator (it works only for one year ahead).
The Provedor is not of the opinion that the simulator should give people the chance to calculate their pension for years ahead. He says one should not instill in people a sense of unrealistic hope … for a good pension, that is. The group said that the State does not want the citizens to know how small their pension will be in the end. On the other hand, if the citizens know of the problem they could take precautions already now and (if possible) start a private pension fund. The question: which instrument is most effective to defend the citizens in such situations? Deco looks good but experience showed that is not very effective, either. The livro de reclamações is still the best tool to get services (but not institutions) to improve on their services. We need a tool against institutions.
We spoke about the interest of other nations to copy the “German” model of apprenticeship, which combines theoretical and practical training. This depends very much on good collaboration between schools and small & medium sized industry and cannot be easily applied in other countries. E had another successful run of his Oceanographic course with Leicester University; their co-ordinator wants to send more students next year. E will also try to set up another course for organic permaculture.

The Funchal City Hall is now open to the public: during the workweek, visitors can for the cost of 3.50€/adult, visit the Assembly Hall, the “Noble Hall”, used for commemorations – this is where you would receive an award form the city if you ever were to get one – and other rooms. The guided visits start at 10am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Once the works are finished on the tower of the building, this will be included as well. U will organize a visit there for the group in August. Let`s go!
Our next ToBinG meeting is on August 21. In the future, this will be a discussion group, for the benefit of the participating members. Still, great ideas will come of it!!

E e U tiveram uma reunião quase intima, mas intensa (e U foi recompensada com um pão excellente), mas aqui primeiro as notícias:
O cesto: Sr. M transferiu o protótipo para o Sr. G que irá ajustá-lo com têxtil da Madeira na parte traseira e para as almofadas. U vai lá no sábado para discutir o acabamento. Nós provavelmente vamos aconselhar P para comprar as cestas de outro fornecedor como a gente de vimes na Madeira realmente não parece ser capaz de produzir um bom top. D vai levar a peça acabada para um contato na Ponta do Sol.
DV : O último contato para um investidor disse que eles não estão interessados , como DV (a pessoa) não tinha qualquer ligação à Ilha da Madeira, e então ?? Mas parece que este projecto não vai para a frente, também.
Notícias na Agricultura:
V disse que a Menta está crescendo muito bem, a Melissa não é tão bom. Ela vai ter o primeiro corte em junho, então nós podemos fazer cálculos.
MBT ainda está trabalhando nos testes, eles ordenaram um outro teste, a despesa própria, no continente. M disse que os resultados parecem promissores, mas o rendimento não é maior do que de outras plantas testadas.
E tem uma boa idéia para uma Feira de Agricultura Orgânica, com competição. Isso poderia ser feito uma vez por ano, por exemplo, em ação de graças, e os prêmios podem ser concedidos para o produto mais bonito, o melhor sabor e outros parâmetros. Os agricultores devem apresentar os seus produtos numa configuração igual e permitir a degustação. Isso iria promover a produção orgânica para o público, também poderia ser uma atração turística. D disse que há uma nova Associação de Agricultores Orgânicos na tomada, para dar aos agricultores orgânicos um lobby com o governo, essa idéia se encaixaria bem dentro
Como tínhamos muito pouco movimento em nosso grupo no Facebook, o Do já removeu o grupo madeiraconsorcio. Parece que nossos membros não estão interessados suficiente nele, e a maioria das mensagens vieram de Do.
E deu U uma boa visão sobre o Facebook.
Os prós e contras:
O argumento de U era sobre a forma e substância. Substância é o que todos nós deveriamos buscar em nossas vidas e Facebook é muito voltado para as aparências, boa aparência e ganhar “amigos”. Este parece ser bastante superficial.
E disse que precisa gerenciar o mural do Facebook bem para obter um bom conteúdo de seus amigos (no caso dele, verdadeiros amigos e familiares que vivem em outros países), e que é possível bloquear os usuários que utilizam as paredes para colocar publicidade e absurdo. Ele gasta cerca de 15 minutos na parte da manhã e à noite nisso, e é uma boa ferramenta de manter uma boa relação com amigos e familiares que de outra forma, seria perdida.
Cada usuário da Internet tem que escolher quais os canais a utilizar para a comunicação: e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn ou outras plataformas; ninguém pode, possivelmente, ser em todos eles.
Facebook tem uma sequência boa em Portugal, quase 50 % da população está no Facebook. Traz mais negócios para sites de negócios.
E disse que há uma maneira de recolha de informação crítica e pró-ativa, que , ele tem medo será perdido com as novas gerações:
A pessoa deve:
1.ser sensitivo suficientemente para ter a percepção de um assunto;
2.ter conhecimento e experiência suficiente para processar a informação;
3.ter a vontade de tomar uma decisão; sim/não, eu gosto e aceito isso;
4.teria ter a vontade de mudar as coisas que ele/ela não aprova.
Muitas pessoas ainda se sentem ameaçados por pessoas que passam por esse processo e tentam mudar as coisas.
Resumo da U: É melhor que a nossa geração não vai ser testemunha do que vai estar acontecendo com a raça humana em algumas décadas …

E and U had a small but intensive meeting (and U was rewarded with a great bread), but here is the news first:
Basket: Sr. M transferred the prototype to Sr. G who will fit it out in Madeira textile in the back and the for the cushions. U will go there on Saturday to discuss the finishing. We shall probably advise P to buy the beach baskets – still a good idea for the whole hotel chain – from another supplier as the wickerwork people in Madeira really do not seem to be able to produce a good top. David will take the finished piece to a contact in Ponta do Sol.
DV: The latest contact for an investor said that they are not interested as DV (the person) had no connection to Madeira Island, so what… But it seems this project is not going forward, either.
Agriculture news:
V said that Menta is growing very well, Melissa is not so good. She will have the first cut in June, then we can make calculations.
MBT is still working on the tests, they ordered another test at their own cost on the mainland. M said that the results look promising but the yield is not higher than from other tested plants.
E has a good idea for an Organic Agriculture Fair and competition. This could be done once a year, for example on Thanksgiving, and prizes could be awarded for the nicest produce, the best taste and other parameters. The farmers should present their goods in an equal setup and allow for tasting. This would promote the organic production to the public, it could also be a tourist attraction. D said that there is a new Organic Farmers Association in the making, to give organic farmers a lobby with the Government, this idea would fit right in.
As we had very little movement on our Facebook group, Do has removed the madeiraconsorcio group in the meantime. It seems our members are not interested enough it it, and most posts came from Do only.
E gave U a good insight into Facebook.
The Pros and Cons:
U`s argument was about form and substance. Substance is what we all should be aiming for in our lives and Facebook is very much geared at appearances, looking good and gaining “friends”. This seems to be quite shallow.
E said that you need to manage your Facebook wall well to get good content from your Friends (in his case, real friends and family who live in other countries), It is possible to block users who use walls to post publicity and nonsense. He spends about 15 min in the morning and in the evening on it, and he is able to keep good connection with friends and family that otherwise, would be lost.
Every Internet user has to choose which channels to use for communication: email, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or other platforms; we cannot possibly be on all of them.
Facebook has a good following in Portugal, almost 50% of the population is on Facebook. It brings more business to business websites.
E said there there is a way of pro-active, critical information gathering and decision making that he is afraid, will be lost with the younger generations:
A person must:
- be sensitive enough to have perception of an issue;
- have enough knowledge and experience to process the info;
- have the will to take a decision; yes/no, do I like and accept this;
- ought to have the will to change things he/she does not approve of.
Many people even feel threatened by persons who go through this process and try to change things.
U`s resumé: It is better that our generation will not be witness to what will be going on with the human race in a few decades…

58 Madeira Consorcio Agricultura Reunião 2014/05/08
Nós nos reunimos com Carlos S , que veio ao nosso encontro para representar Padre Pde Ponta do Sol /Canhas ; ele tem um pedaço de terra de 7000m2 (em dois níveis, sem inclinação) e está interessado em participar no nosso projeto de ervas. O Carlos é engenheiro civil, sem emprego no momento, e trabalha na sua terra e alguns terrenos sem uso de seus amigos. Seu vizinho tem uns estufas , mas eles não estão bem expostos ao sol .. Carlos está tentando evitar o desperdício de água e não usa pesticidas em suas plantas. Boa ideia: Ele alimenta a banana madura, que seriam rejeitadas pela cooperativa, para as suas ovelhas e usa suas fezes como nutricional para obter melhores bananas! Uvai convidar Carlos para reuniões futuras da agricultura, ele é muito optimista e tem boas ideias !
O projeto de ervas:
Vplantou 2 x 200m2 com M & M em Chão de Ribeiro e vai ter um primeiro corte no início de Junho, para ter uma ideia do rendimento. Então precisamos sentar com N para fazer um cálculo de custos. Sr. K é o nosso contato em MB, ele está tentando obter o OK de seu chefe para vir à Madeira para confirar o potencial da ilha. Ele está esperando para os nossos informações sobre os nossos preços.
MBT ainda não terminou com a M, no entanto, eles fazem a extração de óleo em pequenos passos . Uma vez que têm óleo suficiente, vão fazer uma análise em profundidade.
R disse que ele já não está trabalhar com o cemitério em Funchal; parece que eles estão trabalhar com outra empresa para resolver o problema. Eles também simplesmente adicionaram um novo pedaço de terra …

We met with Carlos S, who came to our meeting to represent Padre Pfrom Ponta do Sol/Canhas; he has a piece of land of 7000m2 (on two levels, no inclination) and is interested to join our herbs project. Carlos himself is a civil engineer, out of a job at the moment, and works on his land and some unused terrain of his friends. His neighbor has unused green houses but they are not well exposed to the sun. Carlos is trying to avoid water waste and does not use chemicals on his plants.
Good idea: He feeds overripe banana, which would be rejected by the co-operative, to his sheep and uses their feces as nutritional add-on to get better bananas!
U will invite Carlos to future agriculture meetings, he is very upbeat and has good ideas!
The herbs project:
V has planted 2 x 200m2 with M & M in Chao de Ribeiro and will get a first cut in the beginning of June to get an idea of the yield. Then we need to sit down with N to make a cost calculation.
Mr. Kis our contact in MB, he is trying to get the OK of his boss to come to Madeira and check out our potential. He is waiting for our information regarding our prices.
MBT hasn`t quite finished with the M tests yet, they do the oil extraction in small steps. Once they have enough oil, they will do an in-depth analysis.
Ro. said that he is not working with the Cemetery in Funchal anymore; it seems that they are working with another company to solve the problem. They also simply added a new piece of land…

Olá equipe, nos encontramos na Pizzaria no Lugar de Baixo novamente, e, como recompensa, tivemos uma boa fatia depois.
Plantio de teste: a terra de V em Chão de Ribeiro está preparada para 2 x 200m2 plantio, metade para Menta e metade para Melissa (ela não obteve as plantas do D que está a multiplicar Menta também). A tubulação é instalada, agora precisa de um clima mais quente para plantar nos campos de teste; ela espera que até meados de maio. As amostras de solo foram testados, eles acabaram por ser muito bom, e a terra não tenha sido utilizada por mais de cinco anos.
Se você estiver olhando para as árvores de fruto: V terá abacate alta qualidade, manga e outras árvores de fruto à venda em meados de maio.
Manual contra Fogo: D está em contato com Continente, U com Pingo Doce. Ambas as cadeias não deveriam se opor a distribuição se fizermos isso nós mesmos num fim de semana em determinados supermercados. Precisamos imprimir, U irá organizar isso.
Amostras Menta para o teste em MBT depois da Páscoa: R vai pegar as amostras na QP e entregá-los a E, uma amiga de U de que vive em Rib. Brava. E trabalha na Zona Franca e pode levar as amostras para MBT. U vai pagar para o teste.
D & P daráo U os detalhes de contacto da Agência Agricultores em Mértola, para que U pode entregar isso para a Câmara Municipal de S. Vicente; eles querem organizar uma agência semelhante, e eles poderiam ajudar a encontrar agricultores que vão plantar Menta e Melissa para a exportação para a Alemanha.
Produção de cana de açúcar: R recebeu o mesmo dinheiro para a mesma quantidade que no ano passado, mas o volume da colheita e os subsídios têm aumentado. Ribeiro Seco está trabalhando – Sr. Luis não veio para a última reunião. Ele disse em entrevista a um jornal que ele vai produzir muito mel de novo, e que a sua exportação é muito pequena (5% da produção).
E tentou moer poços de abacate, mas não conseguiu, o moinho quebrou . Ele vai falar com MCBT. O pó é usado em medicamentos alternativos.
O novo ministro da Agricultura de Portugal surgiu num entrevista a idéia de promover o plantio de eucalipto para a madeira porque as árvores crescem tão rapidamente …. ups.

Petição contra a redução dos subsídios de voo ( http://www.peticaopublica.com/pview.aspx?pi=PT72870) está agora em 3.508 assinaturas (4000 são necessários); se você pode ajudar assinando e enviando a informação para seus amigos, por favor faça-o ! Isto não é sobre a questão em si , mas sobre o fato de que este instrumento pode ser usado para forçar o governo a fazer algo sobre questões de interesse público. A Petição de ” Manifesto 74″ para renegociar a dívida é a 34.081 assinaturas, então isso tem de ser discutido no Parlamento de Lisboa; por enquanto, o parlamento vai discutir o assunto na próxima semana, de qualquer maneira.
Os rapazes se reuniráo na próxima semana com Colin para organizar uma reunião para ele na Universidade.

Hello Team,
we met in the Pizzaria in Lugar de Baixo again, and had a nice slice afterwards as reward.
Test planting: V’s land in Chao de Ribeiro is prepared for 2 x 200m2 plantation, half for Menta and half for Melissa (she didn’t get the plants from D who is multiplying Menta as well). The piping is installed, now she needs warmer weather to plant the test fields, hopefully until mid-May. The soil samples were tested, they turned out to be very good, and the land has not been farmed for more than five years.
If you are looking for fruit trees: V will have high quality avocado, mango and other fruit trees for sale in mid-May.
Fire Manual distribution: D is in touch with Continente, U with Pingo Doce. Both chains should not be opposed to distribution if we do it ourselves on a weekend in certain supermarkets. We need to print, U will get this organized.
Menta Samples for the test in MBT after Easter: Ro will pick up the samples in QP and hand them to E, a friend of U who lives in Rib. Brava. E works in the Free Trade Zone and can take the samples to MBT. U will pay for the test.
D&P will give U the contact details they can find of the Farmers Agency in Mértola, so that U can hand this on to the City Hall in S. Vicente; they want to organize a similar agency, and they could help to find farmers who will plant Menta and Melissa for the export to Germany.
Sugar cane production: Regina received the same amount of money for the same quantity as last year but the harvest volume and the subsidies have increased. Ribeiro Seco is working – Sr. Luis didn’t come to the last meeting. He said in a newspaper interview that he will produce too much honey again, and that his export is very small (5% of production). No mention that he could produce sugar.
E tried to grind avocado pits but failed, the grinder broke down. He will talk MBT. The powder is used in alternative medicines.
The Agriculture minister of Portugal, new to her job, came up with the idea to promote eucalyptus plantations for the wood because the trees grow so quickly….ups.
Other news:
The Petition against the reduction of flight subsidies (http://www.peticaopublica.com/pview.aspx?pi=PT72870) is now at 3508 signatures (4000 are needed). if you can help by signing and sending the info on to your friends, please do so!
This is not about the issue itself but about the fact that this can be used to force the government to do something about public interest issues. The Petition from “Manifesto 74” to renegotiate the Debt is at 34.081 signatures, so this has to be discussed in the Lisbon Parliament; in fact, the parliament will discuss it next week, anyway.
The boys will meet next week on short notice with Colin to organize a meeting for him in the University.
We need new members, if you know of a proactive person with ideas and the stamina to come to the meetings regularly, please let U know!

Public Petition – Contra a redução no apoio às viagens entre a Madeira e o Continente

Tomás Freitas has started a Public Petition to stop the state from reducing the subsidy RAM citizens get for the flights to the continent and back. At the moment, the state reimburses 30€ per flight, they plan to reduce this to 21€.
The issue for me is not the reduction in itself but the fact that a Madeiran citizen is using this great new internet tool to get this issue into a hearing by the Portuguese Parliament in Lisbon. Based on art. 52 of the Constitution, it needs only 4000 signatures (on paper or electronic, with B.I. number) to force the Parliament to place the issue on the agenda and discuss it.
A Public Petition can do this! The people’s voice would be heard with only 4000 signatures. Madeira should be able to get together this many signatures, let’s try and see, by signing Tomás’ Petition now:

Olá equipe,
tivemos uma discussão interessante com Colin de www.soadventure.org
” SoAdventure ” é uma organização guarda-chuva, começou como uma fundação em 2009. Tem cerca de 500 membros individuais em 20 países. promove excursões para o selvagem (florestas) para os jovens a dar-lhes uma mudança de desenvolver uma auto-estima saudável, aprender a lidar com suas inseguranças e apoiar uns aos outros num grupo. (Similar ao Movimento Outward Bound ( http://www. outwardbound.org / e http://www.outwardbound.net/ )
Como Colin vive aqui agora, ele quer começar um movimento na Madeira e estávamos tentando obter um aperto sobre a sua ideia para ver como podemos ajudá-lo. Basicamente, ele não quer organizar este movimento “Madeira outdoor” ele mesmo, mas pode dar informações a um potencial líder como organizar essas excursões. Sua fundação tem membros que fazem isso em outros países. Também poderiamos pedir outros organizações de Outward Bound para consultoria.
O objetivo do Colin é alto: ele quer contrariar o desenvolvimento do mundo ocidental que esta virado para o egoísmo, a ganância e o consumismo. Quer abrir as mentes jovens para o fato de que somos parte da natureza, não separar dele, e que podemos viver sem ilusões criadas pelo grandeza. O grupo sentiu que este é um alvo demasiado alto, mas podemos tentar fazer com que os adolescentes ficam scientes de que podem escolher um caminho para a honestidade consigo e com os outros, e superar seus medos. Um jovem que vê que pode sobreviver na floresta, está bem equipado com auto-estima para sobreviver qualquer outra coisa. As crianças devem ser inteligentes, mas também humildes.
E. sugeriu incluir a idéia de Colin em nossos planos para a Universidade de Verão.
Com a idéia de Colin, poderíamos acrescentar cursos para professores sobre como organizar excursões nas nossa florestas. Poderíamos definir isso como cursos com fins lucrativos, mas com um certo número de lugares que vão para os madeirenses gratuitamente. Teria de ser publicado bem, não só no exterior (para angariar turistas que pagam), mas também na Madeira, para ganhar aceitação na população.
Nossa idéia é oferecer uma oportunidade para os jovens a ficar longe de suas famílias e para ganhar valores honestos e entender que o apoio á comunidade (e não apenas a família) dá mais valia a cada pessoa. Esta atitude iria trabalhar contra a corrupção.
A iniciativa pode ser também destinado ás escolas. Todas as crianças têm duas meses de férias no verão; geralmente, os pais estão felizes em enviá-los para campos de férias por que ele teem que trabalhar. Nestes acampamentos de verão as crianças também recebem um almoço diariamente; na verdade, na Madeira, não é sempre fornecido por os pais com baixos rendimentos!
Teremos outra reunião com Colin em 23 de janeiro para desenvolver este projecto.

Hello Team,
We had an interesting discussion with Colin from www.soadventure.org
“SoAdventure” is an umbrella organization, started as a foundation in 2009. It has around 500 individual members in 20 countries. It advocates outings into the wilderness for youngsters to give them a change to develop a healthy self-esteem, learn to deal with their insecurities and to support each other in a group.(similar to the outward Bound Movement (http://www.outwardbound.org/ and http://www.outwardbound.net/ )
As Colin lives here now, he wants to start a movement in Madeira and we were trying to get a grip on his idea to see how we could help him. Basically, he doesn’t want to organize this Madeira-outdoor-bound movement himself but he can give information to a potential leader on how to organize these excursions. His foundation has members who do this in other countries. We could also ask another Outward Bound organization to assist us.
Colin’s aim is high: he wants to counter the development the western world is taking toward egoism, greed and consumerism, and open the youngsters’ minds to the fact that we are part of nature, not separate from it, and that we can live without man-made delusions of grandeur. The group felt that this is too high a target but we can try to make teenagers aware that they can choose a path to honesty with themselves and with others and overcome their fears. A youngster who sees that he can survive in the woods, is well equipped with self-esteem to survive anything else. Children should be smart but also humble.
E. suggested to include Colin’s idea in our plans for a Summer University.
With Colin’s idea, we could add courses for teachers on how to organize outward-bound excursions. We could set this up as a for-profit measure but with a certain number of places going to Madeirans for free. It would have to be published well, not only abroad (get get paying tourists) but also in Madeira, to gain acceptance in the population.
Our idea is to offer an opportunity to youngsters to get away from their families and to gain honest values and to understand that to support the community (not just the family) is to support themselves. This attitude would work against corruption.
Teaching teachers could also be aimed at schools. All kids have two month summer holidays; usually, parents are happy to send them to summer camps are they have to work. In Summer camps the children also receive a daily lunch; actually in Madeira, it is not always provided by parents of low income!
We shall have another meeting with Colin on Jan 23rd to develop this further.Our organisation:

Tivemos uma pequena reunião devido ao mau tempo. D & P tinham, além do mau tempo, uma enorme árvore bloqueando a estrada .
Ainda não temos notícias do Diario, quando e como eles vão publicar o Manual de Proteção contra Incêndios.
DV: U precisa encontrar um novo contato para um investidor como os outros contatos caíram completamente. E vai falar com uma pessoa da família B, para ver se eles estão interessados em investir em uma nova atração turística para a ilha. Pestana não está investindo na Madeira.
Teremos o encontro com MadeBioTech e NatureExtracts em 7 de novembro , este poderia ser muito interessante!

Ignite Portugal: U irá apresentar a nossa solução híbrida (compra de uma casa sem hipoteca) na próxima reunião do Ignite em Nov 16.
Outras coisas: R menciounou Quorn, um substituto da proteína que pode ser utilizado por consumidores de carne para substituir a mesma: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quorn , é muito popular na Suíça , um grossista vende-lo com receitas. Pode causar alergias, mas só em casos muito raros. Isso seria bom para promover aqui, e aulas de culinária com Quorn seria uma boa idéia! (BioLogos não tê-lo).
Sa. nos deu o contato da Kerstin, ela tem uma fazenda de ervas no Algarve. Ela disse que a indústria farmacêutica está tentando bloquear a venda direta de todas as ervas, e a legislação ainda para vender ervas ao consumidor nos mercados esta a ser impedido pelos regulamentos solicitado pelos gigantes farmacêuticas. Eles querem comprar ervas para os preços baixos (em África, as ervas são recolhidos e processados com mão de obra infantil !). Ela está pensando em deixar o negócio, e duvida de que podemos ganhar um bom dinheiro a partir de ervas. Talvez devêssemos ir para os produtos das árvores.
Cavalinha: o cliente decidiu não ir em frente com a plantação porque eles não querem trazer uma nova espécie para a Madeira. Eles estão à procura de ervas comuns agora, U escreveu a Sra. T, para fazê-la entender que não podemos competir com ervas tcomuns, precisamos de produtos de nicho de alto preço.

We had an small meeting, due to the bad weather. D & P had, apart from bad weather, a huge tree blocking their road.
Still, we have no news from the Diario when and how they will publish the Fire Protection and Combat Manual.
DV: U needs to find a new contact for an investor as the other contacts have fallen through . E will speak to a person in the B Family to see if they are interested at all in investing in a new tourist attraction for the island. Pestana is not investing in Madeira.
We shall have the meeting with MadeBioTech and NatureExtracts on Nov 7, this could be very interesting!

IGNITE Portugal: U will present our Hybrid solution (purchase of a house without mortgage) in the next IGNITE Meeting on Nov 16.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quorn, it is very popular in Switzerland, a wholesaler sells it with recipes. It may course allergies but only in very rare cases. This would be good to promote here, to replace meat, cooking classes with Quorn would be a good idea! Biologos doesn’t have it.
Sa. gave us a contact to Kerstin, she is running a herb farm in the Algarve: She said that the Pharmaceutical industry is trying to block the direct sale of all herbs, and the legislation even to sell herbs B-C on the markets is being hindered by regulations prompted by the pharma giants. They want to buy herbs for low prices (in Africa, herbs are gathered and processed with child-labour!!). She is thinking of folding the business.and she doubts that we can earn good money from herbs. Maybe we should go for trees,
Cavalinha: the client decided not to go ahead with the plantation, also because they don’t want to bring a new species to Madeira. They are looking for common herbs now; U wrote to Mrs. T, to make her understand that we cannot compete with everyday herbs, we need high-priced niche products.

Olá equipe,
tivemos uma reunião agradável com Di., falámos sobre o seus morangos, framboesas e a plantação de Proteia. Ela deveria ter uma colheita no próximo ano.
MB: Ursula enviou as amostras (Melissa, Menta, Macela) que V organizou ao contato no MBpara análise no laboratório. Vamos ver o que eles dizem sobre a qualidade – temos de manter os dedos cruzados!
Alguém tem Valeriana? V disse que não crescem bem em Madeira, a parte mais importante é a raiz, e dela não cresceu muito bem. O cliente alemão do U está interessada nele.
Sra. T terá uma reunião com o cliente para a Cavalinha na próxima semana, então eles vão oferecer um contrato para N, para plantar ao menos dois campos de teste.
Outros assuntos:
Nós não temos nenhuma notícia ainda do Diario, quando e como eles vão publicar o Manual contra Incêndios. Após a publicação U vai falar com ECM para ver se eles iriam patrocinar a impressão de folhetos para distribuição.

we had an nice meeting with Di, and spoke about her strawberry, raspberry and Proteia plantation. She should have a harvest next year.
MB: U sent the samples (Melissa, Menta, Macela) that V organised, to the contact in MB for analysis in the lab. We shall see what they say about the quality – keep your fingers crossed!
Does anybody have Valeriana? V said that is does not grow well in Madeira, the important part is the root, and hers didn’t take very well. U‘s German client is interested in it.
Mrs. T will have a meeting with the Cavalinha client next week, then they will offer a contract to N for at least two test fields.
Other stuff:
We have no news yet from the Diario when and how they will publish the Fire Protection and Combat Manual. After publication U will speak to ECM to see if they would sponsor the printing of leaflets for distribution.
