58 Madeira Consorcio Agricultura Reunião 2014/05/08
Nós nos reunimos com Carlos S , que veio ao nosso encontro para representar Padre Pde Ponta do Sol /Canhas ; ele tem um pedaço de terra de 7000m2 (em dois níveis, sem inclinação) e está interessado em participar no nosso projeto de ervas. O Carlos é engenheiro civil, sem emprego no momento, e trabalha na sua terra e alguns terrenos sem uso de seus amigos. Seu vizinho tem uns estufas , mas eles não estão bem expostos ao sol .. Carlos está tentando evitar o desperdício de água e não usa pesticidas em suas plantas. Boa ideia: Ele alimenta a banana madura, que seriam rejeitadas pela cooperativa, para as suas ovelhas e usa suas fezes como nutricional para obter melhores bananas! Uvai convidar Carlos para reuniões futuras da agricultura, ele é muito optimista e tem boas ideias !
O projeto de ervas:
Vplantou 2 x 200m2 com M & M em Chão de Ribeiro e vai ter um primeiro corte no início de Junho, para ter uma ideia do rendimento. Então precisamos sentar com N para fazer um cálculo de custos. Sr. K é o nosso contato em MB, ele está tentando obter o OK de seu chefe para vir à Madeira para confirar o potencial da ilha. Ele está esperando para os nossos informações sobre os nossos preços.
MBT ainda não terminou com a M, no entanto, eles fazem a extração de óleo em pequenos passos . Uma vez que têm óleo suficiente, vão fazer uma análise em profundidade.
R disse que ele já não está trabalhar com o cemitério em Funchal; parece que eles estão trabalhar com outra empresa para resolver o problema. Eles também simplesmente adicionaram um novo pedaço de terra …

We met with Carlos S, who came to our meeting to represent Padre Pfrom Ponta do Sol/Canhas; he has a piece of land of 7000m2 (on two levels, no inclination) and is interested to join our herbs project. Carlos himself is a civil engineer, out of a job at the moment, and works on his land and some unused terrain of his friends. His neighbor has unused green houses but they are not well exposed to the sun. Carlos is trying to avoid water waste and does not use chemicals on his plants.
Good idea: He feeds overripe banana, which would be rejected by the co-operative, to his sheep and uses their feces as nutritional add-on to get better bananas!
U will invite Carlos to future agriculture meetings, he is very upbeat and has good ideas!
The herbs project:
V has planted 2 x 200m2 with M & M in Chao de Ribeiro and will get a first cut in the beginning of June to get an idea of the yield. Then we need to sit down with N to make a cost calculation.
Mr. Kis our contact in MB, he is trying to get the OK of his boss to come to Madeira and check out our potential. He is waiting for our information regarding our prices.
MBT hasn`t quite finished with the M tests yet, they do the oil extraction in small steps. Once they have enough oil, they will do an in-depth analysis.
Ro. said that he is not working with the Cemetery in Funchal anymore; it seems that they are working with another company to solve the problem. They also simply added a new piece of land…

54 reunião Madeira Consorcio (ToBinG ) 27.2.2014
Sr. Luis Camacho da fábrica cana-de-açúcar Ribeiro Seco não apareceu, apesar ele tinha uma lembrete da reunião na terça-feira, isso provavelmente significa “não, obrigado”. Mesmo assim, D vai passar pela fábrica para ver se ele pode falar com ele lá.
O nosso encontro acabou por ser mais sobre Agricultura do que negócio!
Colin teve uma boa reunião na Finlândia. E vai ver se ele pode organizar a reunião de estudantes na universidade, talvez em conjunto com os contatos de professores de D, para que Colin possa apresentar a sua ideia para a Madeira. Infelizmente, ele vai voltar para o Reino Unido por razões de saúde em setembro. P enviará U uma transcrição do discurso do Colin na Finlândia.
U informou sobre a conversa que teve com US, disse-lhe que nós estamos fazendo campos de teste (V com Menta, N talvez com Melissa, a ser confirmado).
D já está duplicando plantas para V. N terminou um grande projeto de carpintaria, agora ele vai ser capaz de pensar sobre o projeto de Melissa. Gostaríamos de iniciar um teste este ano, então podemos dizer com certeza que são os nossos custos de produção. US vai tentar obter os resultados do laboratório para si mesmo, para escrever artigos sobre o alto potencial da Madeira. Ele sugeriu que obtemos resultados de um outro laboratório para confirmar a qualidade. V tem um contato em Lisboa, mas isso iria custar 1500 € .
U vai pedir MBT se eles poderiam fazer os testes e o quanto eles nos cobram. O grupo acha que MC nos dará preços especiais.
D vai tentar marcar uma reunião com Miguel Antonio Correia / Agricultura, e tentar influenciá-lo de que a lei seja alterada para que pelo menos a Protecção Cicil pode entrar terras privadas e derrubar árvores que são um perigo público. U vai tentar acompanhar a traduzir.
A equipe falou sobre MBT e as boas impressões que tiveram do lugar. Cerca de 6 pessoas tem emprego lá, principalmente para fazer testes. Algumas máquinas ainda não foram entregues. Eles têm um lio com alta capacidade. R tem um contato com cerca de 1000 árvores de abacate, a fruta poderia ser tratado em MBT. MC poderia, então, vender o pó a restaurantes de alta classe ao redor do mundo. MC disse que é mais barato importar Funcho para velas do que para comprar as plantas secas aqui (decepcionante para R ) .
G disse que a Câmara Municipal de S. Vicente criou uma agência de assistência aos agricultores, talvez semelhante ao que D & P viam em Mértola. G dará U o contato, então podemos ter uma reunião com eles sobre o projeto Menta / Melissa.
Nosso Manual de Prevenção de Incêndios foi publicado no MAIS / Diario, com informações detalhadas sobre o nosso grupo. U vai organizar cópias A3 para todos.
U vai falar com um supermercado Pingo Doce para ver se eles nos permitiria distribuir panfletos com o Manual de Fogo nos supermercados. D está preparado para fazê-lo em um supermercado Continente.
R disse que Padre Nobrega de Câmara de Lobos é dito ser uma biblioteca botânico. se alguma vez tiver dúvidas, podemos perguntar ele. Temos também bons contactos com alguns botânicos universitários e no Jardim Botanico.
U vai falar com Do. sobre a possibilidade de obter um Publica Peticao inserido no Social Media, mas não temos um assunto atraente para o público mais jovem neste momento.

Sr. Luis Camacho from the Sugar cane factory Ribeiro Seco did not show up, although he was reminded of the meeting on Tuesday, this probably means “no, thank you”. Still, D will pass by the factory to see if he can talk to him there.
The meeting turned out to be more about Agriculture than Business!
Colin had a good meeting in Finland. E will see if he can organize a student’s meeting in the university, perhaps together with D’s teacher contacts, so that Colin can present his idea for Madeira. Unfortunately, he will return to the UK for health reasons in September. P will send U an transcript of Colin`s speech in Finland.
U informed about the talk she had with US, she told him that we are doing test fields (V for Menta, N hopefully with Melissa, to be confirmed).
D is already duplicating plants for V. N finished a big carpentry project, now he will be able to think about the Melissa project. We would prefer to start a test this year, then we can say for certain what our production costs will be. US will try to get the lab results for himself, to write articles about Madeira’s high potential, He suggested that we get separate lab results to confirm the quality. V has a contact in Lisbon but this would cost 1500€.
U will ask MBT if they could do the tests and how much they would charge us. The group thinks that MC will give us special prices.
D will try to arrange a meeting with Miguel Antonio Correia /Agriculture, and try to influence him that the law is changed so that at least the Proteccao Cicil can enter private land and chop down trees that are a public danger. U will try to accompany to translate.
The team spoke about MDB and the good impressions they had of the place. Around 6 persons have employment there, mainly for testing. Some machinery has still not been delivered yet. They have a dryer with high capacity. R has a contact with around 1000 fruit trees, the fruit could be dried in MBT. MC could then sell the product to high class restaurants around the world. MC said that it is cheaper to import Funcho for candles than to buy the dried plants here (disappointing for R).
G said that the City Hall in S. Vicente created a farmers assistance agency, hopefully similar to what D & P saw in Mertola. G will give U the contact, then we can have a meeting with them about the Menta/Melissa project.
Our Fire Prevention Manual has been published in the MAIS / Diario, with a detailed info about our group. U will get A3 copies for everybody.
U will talk to a Pingo Doce supermarket to see if they would allow us to distribute pamphlets with the Fire Manual in the supermarkets. D is prepared to do it in a Continente supermarket.
R said that Padre Nobrega from Camara de Lobos is said to be a walking botanical library. if we ever have questions, we can ask him. We also have good contacts to some university botanists and the Jardim Botanico.
U will talk to Do. about the possibility to get a Peticao Publica inserted in the Social Media, but we do not have an enticing subject for younger audiences at this time.

52 Reunião Madeira Consórcio Meeting (Agricultura) 6.2.2014 English version below
Falamos sobre o projeto Menta & Melissa. V tem um amigo com um ha (o mínimo) terreno plano em Chão da Ribeira. Ela tomou amostras de solo, eles estão sendo testados agora, para ver se a terra seria melhor para Menta ou Melissa.
O Padre vai começar algumas plantas Menta e lhes dará a D que pode multiplicá-los em 200 m2 para posterior plantio. Há também um lugar de multiplicação em Câmara de Lobos, onde as plantinhas são multiplicados a baixo custo; depois de três meses, estão prontas para o plantio.
O Padre só poderia obter cerca de 3000m2 para uma plantação, isso não é o suficiente para ser viável. O melhor caminho a seguir é a utilização de suas plantas em terra boa, e devemos ser capazes de ter a mesma alta qualidade do que o seus produtos têm.
U irá marcar uma reunião com V – ela já fez alguma pesquisa sobre a produção de ambas as plantas – e com N, como N é muito bom em fazer cálculos de custos.
Temos dois bons especialistas em V e N, mas E mas tinha a idéia de que poderíamos convocar um seminário sobre o plantio de plantas. E vai falar com MA da UMa para ver se ele concordasse em fazer isso
Teremos a nossa visita ao MDB em 20 de fevereiro às 10 horas. Alguns de nos vão, mas mais membros são convidados a participar, por favor, entre em contato com U. Lembre-se que este pode ser um bom cliente para todos os agricultores. Precisamos organizar Boleia para chegar lá e economizar no combustível do carro.
Pedimos o Padre se haveria objeções éticas à caixões feitos de folhas de bananeira e vime. Não há , mas ele está preocupado que a população não aceitaria isso. Um funeral é uma forma de mostrar respeito, e as pessoas que enterram um membro da família não querem ser visto como mesquinho em tal ocasião. As agências funerárias seriam um grande obstáculo também, assim como eles querem manter os preços elevados (um funeral na Madeira não é menos caro do que na Alemanha!) O Sr. Padre disse que se alguém começou uma nova agência funerária, com preços justos e com um objetivo ambiental, ele iria promovê-la.
Para os próximos meses, teremos nossa reunião de Agricultura 1x mês, alternando entre Funchal (18.30h ) e Lugar de Baixo (19.00h). O Padre vai se juntar ao grupo, sempre que pode (suas funções como sacerdote virem em primeiro lugar).

We spoke about the Menta & Melissa project. V has a friend with one ha (the minimum) flat land in Chao da Ribeira. She has taken soil samples, they are being tested now, to see if the land would be better for Menta or Melissa .
The Padre will start some Menta plants and will give them to D who can multiply them on 200 m2 for further planting. There is also a multiplication place in Camara de Lobos where seedlings are multiplicated at low cost; after three months, the seedlings are ready for plantation
The Padre could only get about 3000m2 for a plantation, that is not enough to be viable. The best way forward is to use his plants on good soil, and we should be able to have the same high quality his products have
U will set up a meeting with V – she already did some research on the production of both plants – and with N, as N is very good at making cost calculations.
We have two good experts in V and N but E had the idea that we might convene a workshop on the plantation of there plants, E will speak to MA from the UMa to see if he would agree to do this
We shall have our visit to MBT on February 20 at 10 am. Some members are probably going but more members are welcome to join, please contact U. Remember that this can be a good client for all farmers. We need to organize Boleia to get there and save on car fuel.
We asked the Padre if there would be any ethical objections to coffins made from banana leaves and wickerwork. There is none but he is concerned that the population would not accept this. A funeral is a means of showing respect, and people who bury a family member do not want to be looked upon as stingy at such an occasion. The funeral agencies would be a big obstacle as well as they want to keep the prices high (a funeral in Madeira is not less expensive than in Germany!) He said that if somebody started an new funeral agency with decent, low prices and with an environmental objective, he would promote it.
For the next few months, we shall have our Agriculture meeting 1 x month, alternating between Funchal (18.30h) and Lugar de Baixo (19.00h). The Padre will join the group whenever can can (his duties as priest come first).

U will invite Sr. Luis from the Sugar cane factory for one of our next ToBinG meetings to see how he is doing with our idea of producing organic raw sugar as well. The production starts in the first week of April.

This petition goes to the Portuguese Parliament this February (http://auditoriacidada.info/Noticias). The group is using a petition tool which empowers citizens to oblige the parliament on the national level to discuss the issue, with as little as 4000 signatures!

We could use this for our initiative to get our Government to do improve on the public fire safety, if we could get it into the Diario and the Social Media. We spoke about the offer by MB for 1-3 ha of Menta and Melissa; J will let us know until the end of January if he wants to take it up, maybe in co-operation with the Padre The client would provide the plants and set the standard to be met.
J and M have around 1 ha of land available, we shall need more land to take up the offer and make this work. V already did some research on the plants and the conditions they need. R says he can extend the land use by applying micro-organisms.
MB is one of the biggest International wholesalers in Europe; if we can deliver great quality to them, we could sell them many other products later!
We also spoke about the water kefir E has available for all who are interested. It is very healthy, better than milk kefir – see part of his text included:

” SoAdventure ” é uma organização guarda-chuva, começou como uma fundação em 2009. Tem cerca de 500 membros individuais em 20 países. promove excursões para o selvagem (florestas) para os jovens a dar-lhes uma mudança de desenvolver uma auto-estima saudável, aprender a lidar com suas inseguranças e apoiar uns aos outros num grupo. Como Colin vive aqui agora, ele quer começar um movimento na Madeira e estávamos tentando obter um aperto sobre a sua ideia para ver como podemos ajudá-lo. Basicamente, ele não quer organizar este movimento “Madeira outdoor” ele mesmo, mas pode dar informações a um potencial líder como organizar essas excursões. Sua fundação tem membros que fazem isso em outros países. Também poderiamos pedir outros organizações de Outward Bound para consultoria.
O objetivo do Colin é alto: ele quer contrariar o desenvolvimento do mundo ocidental que esta virado para o egoísmo, a ganância e o consumismo. Quer abrir as mentes jovens para o fato de que somos parte da natureza, não separar dele, e que podemos viver sem ilusões criadas pelo grandeza. O grupo sentiu que este é um alvo demasiado alto, mas podemos tentar fazer com que os adolescentes ficam scientes de que podem escolher um caminho para a honestidade consigo e com os outros, e superar seus medos. Um jovem que vê que pode sobreviver na floresta, está bem equipado com auto-estima para sobreviver qualquer outra coisa. As crianças devem ser inteligentes, mas também humildes.
E. sugeriu incluir a idéia de Colin em nossos planos para a Universidade de Verão.
Com a idéia de Colin, poderíamos acrescentar cursos para professores sobre como organizar excursões nas nossa florestas. Poderíamos definir isso como cursos com fins lucrativos, mas com um certo número de lugares que vão para os madeirenses gratuitamente. Teria de ser publicado bem, não só no exterior (para angariar turistas que pagam), mas também na Madeira, para ganhar aceitação na população.
Nossa idéia é oferecer uma oportunidade para os jovens a ficar longe de suas famílias e para ganhar valores honestos e entender que o apoio á comunidade (e não apenas a família) dá mais valia a cada pessoa. Esta atitude iria trabalhar contra a corrupção.
A iniciativa pode ser também destinado ás escolas. Todas as crianças têm duas meses de férias no verão; geralmente, os pais estão felizes em enviá-los para campos de férias por que ele teem que trabalhar. Nestes acampamentos de verão as crianças também recebem um almoço diariamente; na verdade, na Madeira, não é sempre fornecido por os pais com baixos rendimentos!
Teremos outra reunião com Colin em 23 de janeiro para desenvolver este projecto.

Hello Team,
We had an interesting discussion with Colin from www.soadventure.org
“SoAdventure” is an umbrella organization, started as a foundation in 2009. It has around 500 individual members in 20 countries. It advocates outings into the wilderness for youngsters to give them a change to develop a healthy self-esteem, learn to deal with their insecurities and to support each other in a group.(similar to the outward Bound Movement (http://www.outwardbound.org/ and http://www.outwardbound.net/ )
As Colin lives here now, he wants to start a movement in Madeira and we were trying to get a grip on his idea to see how we could help him. Basically, he doesn’t want to organize this Madeira-outdoor-bound movement himself but he can give information to a potential leader on how to organize these excursions. His foundation has members who do this in other countries. We could also ask another Outward Bound organization to assist us.
Colin’s aim is high: he wants to counter the development the western world is taking toward egoism, greed and consumerism, and open the youngsters’ minds to the fact that we are part of nature, not separate from it, and that we can live without man-made delusions of grandeur. The group felt that this is too high a target but we can try to make teenagers aware that they can choose a path to honesty with themselves and with others and overcome their fears. A youngster who sees that he can survive in the woods, is well equipped with self-esteem to survive anything else. Children should be smart but also humble.
E. suggested to include Colin’s idea in our plans for a Summer University.
With Colin’s idea, we could add courses for teachers on how to organize outward-bound excursions. We could set this up as a for-profit measure but with a certain number of places going to Madeirans for free. It would have to be published well, not only abroad (get get paying tourists) but also in Madeira, to gain acceptance in the population.
Our idea is to offer an opportunity to youngsters to get away from their families and to gain honest values and to understand that to support the community (not just the family) is to support themselves. This attitude would work against corruption.
Teaching teachers could also be aimed at schools. All kids have two month summer holidays; usually, parents are happy to send them to summer camps are they have to work. In Summer camps the children also receive a daily lunch; actually in Madeira, it is not always provided by parents of low income!
We shall have another meeting with Colin on Jan 23rd to develop this further.Our organisation:

38 reunião Madeira Consórcio (Agricultura) 15.8.2013 English version below
Tivemos uma breve reunião – muitos membros usavam o feriado para ir para aos campos cedo – e D & P tinham que voltar até a quinta deles para cuidar de fogos. Lá há fumaça no horizonte quase todos os dias (U estava lá em cima por um alguns dias, o lugar é muito bonito e calmo e ideal para umas férias relaxantes)
Temos um novo membro!
V nos trouxe St., ele cresceu na África do Sul e começa seu curso agrícola na universidade agora.
Como já escrito no lembrete para a reunião, U precisa de uma lista de todos os membros (alguns já deveriam ter essa lista pelo si próprio) com os seguintes detalhes:
Tamanho da terra
Altitude
Capacidade de água
Quantidade de luz do sol / em que momento do dia
Situação do vento
Com isso, vai ser mais fácil de determinar quem pode receber as plantações de teste para a Cavalinha. e / ou de outras plantas para o cliente.
G está preocupado com a Cavalinha, se for Equisetum arvense (usado para sílica), é invasivo e difícil de erradicar. U irá pedir um esclarecimento do cliente.
V disse que não é fácil de ser cultivado.
E deu algumas sementes de Brasil ao D para entregar ao N: “Bardana” (Burdock, Arctium lapa), que cresce muito bem no lugar do E.
St. irá manter alguns de seus grãos de café por D de experimentar a sua própria marca, wow!
D e E discutiram o melhor fermento e as condições para fazer uma boa cidra. D está em processo de criação do segundo lote este ano, o primeiro lote do ano passado continha muito ácido.
E está à procura de um agricultor orgânico para configurar 3 x 30 m2 de grãos para ele: ele precisa de centeio, cevada e Kamut para o seu pão.

We had a short meeting – many members used the feriado to go to the fields early – and D & P had to go up to their farm to watch out for fires, there is smoke on the horizon almost every day (U was up there for a few days, their place is really beautiful and calm and ideal for a relaxing holiday)
We have a new member!

V brought us St, he grew up in South Africa and starts his agricultural course at the university now.
U needs a list from each member (all members ought to have such a list anyway) with the following details:
Size of land
Altitude
Water capacity
Amount of sunshine / at what time of the day
Wind situation
With this, it will be easier to determine who can receive the test plantations for the Cavalinha and/or other plants for the German client
G is worried about the Cavalinha, if it is Equisetum arvense (used for silica), it is invasive and difficult to eradicate. U will ask the client. V said it is not easy to be farmed.
E gave D some “Bardana” (Burdock, Arctium lapa) seeds from Brasil for N; it grows very well in E`s place.
U contacted another resident, he has land in Ribeira Brava but only 800 m2, for further reference if we need unused land for the test plantations
St. will keep some of his coffee beans for D to experiment for his own brand, wow!
D and E discussed the best yeast and conditions to make good cider. D is in the process of setting up the second batch this year, the first year`s batch contained too much acid.
E is looking for an organic farmer to set up 3 x 30 m2 of grains for him: he needs rye, barley and Kamut for his bread.

Olá equipe,
tivemos uma discussão animada sobre a União Europeia, o euro, a crise da dívida, e outros temas, mas aqui estão as novidades (algumas delas também para Agricultura):
A Cesta : Daremos o carpinteiro mais duas semanas para produzir a base (N vai falar com ele), se ele não fazê-lo durante este período, iremos para os tecelões na Camacha para que eles organizam o edifício da base por si.
N receberá o peixe em breve, ele será importado por outra pessoa.
D plantou seu lavanda e alecrim. Ele vai encontrar o Ministro da Agricultura, Manuel António, amanhã em uma função no hotel Reid’s, e vai tentar falar com ele sobre a agricultura orgânica.
N tem uma boa fonte de baixo custo de peças de painéis solares , uma empresa da Turquia. Por favor, dê uma olhada no site: se alguns de nós se juntam para comprar em conjunto, os preços iriam cair ainda mais. As baterias são a parte mais caro, mas eles têm uma garantia de 10 anos. A importação seria isenta de IVA, mas haveria custo da Alfangeda. Se você estiver interessado, entre em contato com N, ele vai encomendar de lá.
Blocos de apartamentos tem que ter a aprovação do Condominio para sistemas de painéis solares “auto-Consumo”, e não há nenhuma razão para que isso não deve ser tecnicamente possível para prédios de apartamentos. Blocos de apartamentos e unidades individuais podem juntar-se para pequenas redes para trocar a electricidade excedente.
N entrará em contato com N.d.B, que conheci recentemente e ele tem uma impressão muito melhor dele agora. Ele seria acessível para a co-operação.

We had a lively discussions about the EU, the Euro, the debt crisis, and other topics but here are the news (some of it also Agriculture):
The Basket: We shall give the carpenter two more weeks to produce the base (N will speak to him), if he doesn’t do it during this time, we shall go to the weavers in Camacha so that they organize the building of the base for themselves.
D.V.: U will have a meeting with the contact of the investor on June 5th
N will get the fish soon, it will be imported by somebody else,
D planted his lavender and rosemary. He will meet the Minister of agriculture, Manuel António, tomorrow at a function in the Reid’s hotel, and will try to talk to him about organic farming.
N has a good source for inexpensive solar panel parts, a company from Turkey. Please have a look at the site: if several of us would join up to buy together, the prices would go down even further. The batteries are the most expensive part but they have a 10-year guarantee. The import would be free of VAT, but there would be customs cost. If you are interested, please contact N , he will order from there.
Apartment blocks have to have the approval of the Condominio for “auto-consumo” solar panel systems, and there is no reason why this should not be technically possible for apartment houses. Apartment blocks and individual units could join up for small networks to exchange any surplus electricity.
N will contact N.d.B., he met him recently and he has a much better impression of him now. He would be approachable for a co-operation.

29 Reunião Madeira Consórcio (Agricultura) 18.4.2013
De P nos trouxem favas para comer – muito bom! U trouxe um pequeno pote de marmelada de banana, esta é vendida numa loja especializada no Centromar. É um souvenir agradável para os turistas. A (Banana muito madura contém substâncias anti-cancerígenas.)
Dr. S respondeu ao e-mail de U, ele prefere vir em junho, juntamente com seu antigo parceiro e sua esposa, também especialistas em plantas. A visita será a partir de 24 junho – 8 julho. vamos criar um programa para eles para conhecer os nossos membros e ver o potencial. Depois Dr. S vai escrever o artigo.
J tem um projeto para Maracuja, mas a agência para os subsídios duvida que ele possa obter 2 € / kg para o seu fruto no futuro (ninguém tem uma bola de cristal). F vai fazer um contrato com ele com esse preço; assim J pode provar que ele pode obtê-lo, então o subsídio deve ir, e ele pode começar a plantar.
Alguns visitaram a fábrica de cana-de-mel no Funchal e falavam com o gerente.
Foi muito interessante! Eles só moem uma certa quantidade de cana, porque têm problemas para vender o mel depois (pequena exportação). Eles também enviam mel para Jersey para os madeirenses lá.
O gerente foi perguntado se ele poderia usar um pouco do suco da cana para fazer açúcar mascavo em pequenos cones como souvenir para turistas, mas ele não sabe como o fazer.
Uma das usinas em Porto da Cruz está sendo convertido em um museu.

Hello Team,
we had a lively meeting and a lot of fun!
D and P brought us favas to eat – very nice! U brought a small jar of banana marmelade, this is produced and sold in a speciality shop in Centromar. It is a nice souvenir for tourists. (Very ripe banana contains anti-cancer substances.)
Dr. S answered to Us email, he prefers to come in June, together with his old partner and his wife, also plant specialists, as these two know Madeira very well. The visit will be from June 24 to July 8. we shall set up a program for them to meet our members and see the potential. Dr. S will then write the article for us.
J has a project for Maracuja, and the agency taking care of the subsidies said that they doubt that he can get 2 €/kg for his fruit in the future (nobody has a crystal ball). F will make a contract with him with this price so that he can prove he can get it, then the subsidy should go thought, and he can start to plant.
Some of us visited the sugarcane-to-honey factory in Funchal and spoke to the manager. It was very interesting! They only grind a certain amount of sugarcane because they have problems to sell the honey afterwards (small export). The sugarcane leftover is sent to a cow farm in Caniço; D will get in touch with them, to get the resulting fertilizer.
The manager was asked if he could use some of the sugarcane juice to make small brown sugar cane cones as souvenir for tourists but he doesn’t know how to make it. One of the sugarcane mills in Porto da Cruz is being converted to a museum.

Olá equipe,
tivemos uma boa reunião com alguns dos membros da equipe de F e as coisas estão a ficar em forma!
Dr. S, como já mencionado, tem a intenção de visitar a Madeira em Abril ou Maio, para ver o que temos para oferecer. Então, ele vai escrever um artigo para uma revista especializada , isto deve levar-nos pedidos. Ele também dará Ursula contatos comerciais valiosos para tentar conseguir clientes.
U contactado Sra. T , para o projeto da fibra . U se reuniu com o chefe da GESBA e mandou detalhes do que os alemães têm em seu relatório das Ilhas Canárias, mas ainda não teve resposta da GESBA. Sra. T. pensa que os detalhes da Madeira não podem mesmo ser necessários, como temos condições muito semelhantes como as Ilhas Canárias, só mais água. Ela vai fazer um pedido de subsídios para o projeto e, uma vez que eles são concedidos, vai voltar para nos fornecer fibras de bananeira para o teste.
U apresentou uma lista de ervas que ela encontrei em Google de algumas lojas online de ervas.
U mencionou a empresa S, um grande produtor medicinal. Eles pararam de comprar ervas e outros materiais na Europa após a explosão Chernobyl e instalaram uma agricultura sob contrato no C, onde eles podem ter certeza de que o ar, a água e a terra são limpos e nada nuclear está à vista. Eles têm 600 ha de terra sob contrato lá.
D nos enviou dois links sobre um sistema de agricultura apoiado da comunidade: os agricultores podem depender de algum apoio por parte dos clientes finais que por sua vez podem ter certeza de que eles vão ser fornecidos com produtos

G vai organizar uma visita à fábrica da Cana Ribeiro Seco de Açúcar.
Nós conversamos sobre a situação fiscal dos agricultores. Ninguém está feliz que os agricultores têm de apresentar-se ao IRC e IVA agora, mas pelo menos eles podem preencher as receitas a mão. Grande parte da economia vai ficar sem registro.
F relatou que algumas pessoas dividem suas terras e registrarm cada parte com um membro da família diferente, da avó ao bebê, e cada pessoa do agregado familiar tem direito a um subsídio anual de 500 euros. Eles todos deveriam cultivar a terra, mas não o fazem; se uma inspeção está chegando, eles são avisados para que eles possam plantar um pouco antes.
Perto de de F existe uma antiga instalação para fabricar óleos, David está interessado para ver isso.

Hello Team,
we had a good meeting with some of F’s Team members and things are getting into shape!
Dr. S, as mentioned before, intends to come to Madeira in April or May, to see what we have to offer. Then he will write an expert article for a magazine in Germany, this should bring us requests.
U contacted Mrs. T for the Banana project. U met with the boss of GESBA and sent him details of what is in their report from the Canary Islands but has had no answer from GESBA yet. Mrs. T. thinks that the details from Madeira may not even be necessary as we have very similar conditions as the Canary Islands, only more water. She will make a request for subsidies for the project and, once they are granted, will get back to us to provide banana fibers for testing.
U presented a list of herbs she googled in some German online herb shops
U mentioned the company S, a big medicinal producer. They stopped buying herbs and other materials in Europe after the Tchernobyl explosion and installed a contract farming in Chile where they can be sure that the air, the water and the land are clean and nothing nuclear is in sight. They have 600 ha land under contract there.
D sent us two links about community supported farming in other countries: the farmers can depend on some support by the final customers who in turn can be certain that they will be supplied with produce:

G will organize a visit to the Ribeiro Seco Sugar Cane factory. They should be able to produce crystallized and organic sugar.
We spoke about the tax situation of the farmers. No-one is happy that the farmers have to submit to IRC and IVA now, but at least they can fill our receipts by hand. Much of the economy will stay unregistered. Filipe reported that some people split up their land and register each part with a different family member, from grandma to baby, and each person in the household has a right to an annual subsidy of 500 euro. They are all supposed to farm their land, but they don’t; if an inspection is coming, they are warned so that they can plant a bit before the check. Smarty-pants farmers…
Near F’s place is an old installation to fabricate oils, David is interested to see it.

25 Reunião Madeira Consórcio (Agricultura) 21.3.2013 – English version below
Olá equipe,
Tivemos uma primeira reunião interessante com o equipe do F. e espero que possamos trabalhar com este grupo numa base regular, eu acho que nós podemos conseguir bastante juntos!
Com eles, temos acesso ao terrenos em Tabua, Ponta do Pargo, Ponta do Sol. Santo da Serra, Funchal, Faial / Santana e S. Cruz.
Nós tivemos uma discussão animada sobre os prós e contras de muitas plantas, com IPad do N. como ajudante. N. pode fornecer muitas sementes e plantas para os outros membros do grupo e dar conselhos sobre o cultivo.
U. apresentou as indicações de preços que recebeu de E., com os preços actuais pagos por a empresa da para os óleos essenciais
Falavamos sobre os indicadores de preços do grossista e sobre a Proposta de preço do transporte para a exportação da Madeira para Hamburgo
Como agora temos um grupo com vários agricultores, U. irá escrever ao Dr. S e informá-lo de nosso progresso. Ele prometeu escrever um artigo científico para assinalar que a ilha é ideal para isso. Isto deve trazer-nos pedidos de esta indústria para citações e de cooperação.
U também vai reanimar um contato com o sobre Lippia Dulcis.
O projeto Banana-Fibra não consegue avançar, porque a Universidade não libera os estudos de banana que eles têm. U vai entrar em contato com outra agencia para ver se eles têm algo que pode entregar.

We had an interesting first meeting with F’s Team and I hope that we can work with this group on a regular basis, I think we can achieve quite a lot together!
With them, we have access to land in Tabua, Ponta do Pargo, Ponta do Sol. Santo da Serra, Funchal, Faial/Santana and S. Cruz.
We had a lively discussion about the pro’s and con’s of many plants, with N’s IPad as helper. N can provide many seeds and plants for the other members of the group and give advice on the cultivation.
U. mentioned that the Quinta Pedagogica has a dehydration machine , which could be used in exchange for animal feed or work. N. has a drying machine as well.
U presented the price indications she received with the actual prices the company is actually paying for essential oils.
We discussed the price indicators from the wholesaler and the offer for the export to Hamburg
As we now have a group with several farmers, U. will write to Dr. S. and inform him of our progress. He promised to write a scientific article for the Industry to point out that the island is ideal for this. This ought to bring us requests from this industry for quotes and cooperation.
The Banana-Fiber project does not get forward because the University does not release the Banana studies they have. Ursula will get in touch with another agency to see if they have something they can hand out.
F. has a nice new website with an online shop in several languages, members could perhaps co-operate with him to sell their goods via this shop. Have a look at: http://www.alvesdebarros.com/ (still needs a bit of tweaking)
