17 reunião do Madeira Consórcio (ToBinG grupo) 13 Dezembro 2012
Olá equipe,
tivemos uma grande reunião, desta vez um pouco mais relaxado …
A palestra sobre a emigração será transferida para Janeiro, o Pilar Empresarial não mandou os convites a tempo, e as pessoas estão focadas em Natal.
O advogado Patrick não veio a nenhuma das reuniões foi convidado para, parece que ele não está interessado em trabalhar com o nosso grupo. Verena tem um outro advogado que poderia ser mais inclinado a ajudar: Claudia….
Gonçalo apresentou o primeiro Mata-Mosquitos que importou da China. Nos falámos sobre várias maneiras de comercializar os produtos e como importá-los. Nós testávamos a armadilha em Mitos & Aroma e matámos três mosquitos.
Nicolas de Barry, que não estava interessado quando foi abordado por Nelson e Esmeralda – e que não é fácil de se trabalhar, muito dominante – tem seu site na http://www.nicolasdebarry.com.
Patricia recomendou a http://madeiraislanddirect.com/blog/ , é de um Sr. do Sul Africano, ele às vezes tem informações úteis no Blog.
Falamos um pouco sobre a organização das reuniões. Esperamos receber novos membros portugueses em Janeiro, se não, Ursula está pensando em elaborar a ata da reunião etc somente em Inglês.
Contraditorio: Ursula é membro agora, ela concordou com o Luis que os nossos membros da Madeira Consórcio vão fornecer dois “briefs” (e não três, e não um “papel” de comprimento) por ano. Nossos briefs podem ser simplesmente relatórios sobre o andamento dos nosso esforços.

we had a great meeting again, this time a bit more relaxed…
The lecture on emigration will be moved to January, the Pilar Empresarial didn`t get the invitations out in time, and people are focused on Christmas.
The lawyer Patrick didn’t come to any of the meetings he was invited to, it seems he is not interested to work in our group. Verena has another lawyer who might be more inclined to help: Claudia …
Gonçalo presented the first Mosquito-Killer he imported from China. He order two types and received the big kind; the smaller ones, to be plugged into the socket, are still on the way.We talked about several ways on how to market the products and how to import them. We tested the trap in Mitos & Aroma and killed three mosquitos.
Nicolas de Barry, who wasn’t interested when he was approached by Nelson and Esmeralda – and who is not easy to work with, very dominant – has his site at http://www.nicolasdebarry.com.
Patricia recommended the Blog http://madeiraislanddirect.com/blog/, this is by a South African guy, he sometimes has useful information in it.
We spoke a bit about the organization of the meetings. We hope to get new Portuguese members next January, if not, Ursula is thinking of doing the meeting minutes etc only in English.
Contraditorio: Ursula is a member now, she agreed with Luis that our Madeira Consorcio members are to provide two briefs (not three, and not one long “paper”) per year. Our briefs can simply be reports on the progress of your efforts.

Olá,
tivemos uma grande reunião e as melhores idéias surgiram no final!
Ursula tem a aprovação dos membros de usar o nome Consorcio em uma palestra sobre a emigração, a ter lugar no Pilar Empresarial na Rua das Aranhas, 51, Tel. 2914 222001 (para se inscrever para o evento) em 14 de dezembro, após seis horas. Ursula, como emigrante, vai dar informações sobre a forma como esta funcionou para ela, e que para ter cuidado. O alvo são os jovens que estão pensando em emigrar, o evento vai ser publicado pela Empresarial Pilar. Alguns de nós estão esperançosos de que os jovens que emigram agora vao voltar um dia, com experiência, dinheiro e vontade de mudar as coisas na ilha, mas Gonçalo, ele próprio jovem, é pessimista sobre isso.
Nossa visita a Meia Serra:
Fomos para ETRS, a usina de tratamento de resíduos na Meia Serra, foi muito interessante. Nós conversamos com o chefe químico da planta que tem de fiscalizar todas as emissões e certifiquar de que a planta não polui o meio ambiente.
A planta pertence à empresa pública Valor Ambiente, Meia Serra pode receber grupos, mas não tem um orçamento para informar o público sobre o seu trabalho (ou para corrigir boatas sobe o que acontece lá).
A parte de queimar lixo hospitalar e carcaças de animais não está funcionando no momento. Esta parte não é conforme com os regulamentos e o processo judicial está no mais alto tribunal da União Europeia neste momento. Estes resíduos tem ainda de ser enviados para o continente a ser tratada (muito caro).
A incineração de resíduos mistos funciona muito bem, eles têm dois fornos, neste momento eles precisam de apenas um, pois não é que grande parte dos resíduos. O volume de resíduos diminuiu em setembro 2009, no inicio da crise. Minha teoria: se o volume de resíduos aumentar, a crise será nos últimos estágios. A planta pode queimar até 8 toneladas de resíduos por hora e está usando menos de 50% da sua capacidade. A fábrica recicla quase 100% da água necessária para o resfriamento e vapor, só no verão eles triam um pouco a partir de um pequeno rio próximo. As cinzas – muito tóxico, dependendo do que compõe a mistura de resíduos – é transformado em blocos de cimento que são depositadas em um aterro sanitário; o primeiro (desde 2004) está quase cheio para que eles estão preparando um novo. A queima de resíduos gera vapor que aciona uma turbina, gerando eletricidade. 25% da energia elétrica é reutilizado pela própria planta, 75% é vendido para EEM (um pouco mais caro do que a energia produzida pelo petróleo), o que representa 50% da eletricidade usada em toda a ilha (o resto vem da água, óleo e vento / solar). Quanto mais resíduos queimamos, mais eletricidade pode ser entregue da Meia Serra.
A planta também produz “BioValor” composto a partir de resíduos verdes, principalmente entregue pelas Camaras. Para declarar que fosse orgânico, o composto teria de ser utilizado para a plantação de árvores, flores e outras espécies, e o solo que têm de ser analisados por alguns anos – não irá acontecer. Por isso, o composto não pode ser usado por propriedades orgânicas tais como do David e Patricia, eles têm que importar de outras fontes. O composto da Meia Serra costumava ser de gratis e os madeirenses foram para o buscar, agora custa 10 cêntimos / kg e eles não estão tão interessadas (para uma terrono grande, isso pode ser muito caro).
A planta também recicla águas residuais com métodos químicos e de osmose, e o resíduo em forma de lama é enterrado em aterros. A planta também tem um depósito de pneus (pneus).
ValorAmbiente também tem algumas plantas de tratamento de resíduos, na Calheta (nãofunciona) e em outros lugares. O engenheiro disse que eles poderiam trabalhar, existem apenas pequenos problemas técnicos – problemas políticos parecem ter mais impacto sobre esta situação.
Na Ribeira Brava, Porto Novo e Porto Santo há centros para a triagem (separação) dos reciclados. Os resíduos dos ecopontos e de separação de resíduos em Funchal chegam lá e são separados. Papel, plástico / metal e vidro são enviados para o continente. Apenas o lixo doméstico misturado é entregue (em caminhões escuros verdes, nenhuma outra cor) da Meia Serra. Porto Novo ou Ribeira Brava é o lugar onde queremos visitar seguinte, para ver se eles realmente fazem o que eles estão dizer.
O engenheiro é Meia Serra não esquivou das perguntas difíceis, tornou-se óbvio que ele vê problemas na arena política que dificultam uma melhor solução em diversas áreas.

David teve a idéia (confirmada pelo engenheiro na Meia Serra) que o trabalho prisional poderia ser usado para coletar fiteira e levá-lo à Meia Serra para ser transformado em composto (que eu acho, pode ser vendido por barco para Marrocos). Muitos prisioneiros têm permissão para trabalhar fora e deixar a prisão durante o dia.
Dê uma olhada em http://www.shs-pt.com, esta é uma pequena empresa no Algarve que vende sistemas solares sem ligacao ao rede – não há venda de energia elétrica para a Casa da Luz, licença não é necessária, portanto, não há problemas.
Ursula escreveu um e-mail para o Diario para ver se eles têm ou terão notícias em reagrds a uma nova forma de ferry de ligação do continente.

We had a great meeting and the best ideas came up at the end!
Ursula got the approval of the members to use the Consorcio name in a lecture on emigration, to take place in the Pilar Empresarial in Rua das Aranhas, 51, Tel 2914 222001 (to register for the event) on December 14 after 6pm. Ursula as an emigrant, will give out information on how this went for her, and what to be careful about. The target are young people who are thinking of emigrating; the event will be published by the Pilar Empresarial. Some of us are hopeful that the youngsters who emigrate now will return one day with expertise, money and the will to move things on the island but Gonçalo, himself a “youngster” is pessimistic about this.
Our visit to Meia Serra:
We went to ETRS, the waste processing plant in Meia Serra, it was very interesting. We spoke to the Chief Chemist of the plant who has to supervise all emissions and make sure that the plant does not pollute the environment.
The plant belongs to the public company Valor Ambiente, Meia Serra can receive groups but does not have a budget to inform the public about their work (or set rumours straight).
The part to burn hospital waste and animal carcasses is not working at the moment. This part is not up to regulations and the court case is in the highest EU court at this time. This waste still has to be sent to the continent to be treated (very expensive).
The incineration of mixed waste works very well, they have two ovens, at this time they need only one because there is not that much waste. The volume of waste decreased in Sept 2009, at the start of the crisis. My theory: if the volume of waste goes up, the crisis will be in the last stages. The plant can burn up to 8 tons of waste per hour and is using around 50% of its capacity. The plant recycles almost 100% of the water needed for cooling and steam, only in the summer they draw a bit from a nearby small river. The ashes – very toxic, depending on what makes up the mixed waste – is processed into cement blocks which are deposited in a landfill; the first one (since 2004) is almost full so they are preparing a new one. The burning of waste generates steam which drives a turbine, generating electricity. 25% of the electricity is re-used by the plant itself, 75% is sold to EEM (a bit more expensive than the electricity produced by oil) and this represents 50% of the electricity used on the whole island (the rest is water power, oil fuel and wind/solar). The more waste we burn, the more electricity can be delivered from Meia Serra.
The plant also produces “BioValor” compost from green waste, mainly delivered by the City Halls. In order to declare it to be organic, the compost would have to be used for planting trees, flowers and other species, and the soil would have to be analyzed for a few years – not going to happen. Therefore the compost cannot be used by organic farms such as David`s, he and Patricia have to import it from other sources. It used to be free, and the Madeirans would come and get it, now it costs 10 cents/kg and they are not interested so much (for a large peace of land, this can be too expensive).
The plant also recycles waste water with chemical and osmosis methods, and the residue in form of mud is buried in landfills. The plant also has a tire deposit (pneus).
ValorAmbiente also has some other waste treatment plants, in Calheta (dosn`t work) and in other places. The engineer said that they could work, there are only small technical problems – political problems seem to have more impact on this situation.
In Ribeira Brava, Port Novo and Port Santo there are smaller triage (separation) plants. The waste from the EcoPontos and from waste separation in Funchal arrive there and are separated. Paper, plastic/metal and glass are sent to the continent. Only the mixed household waste is delivered (in dark green trucks, no other color) to Meia Serra. Porto Novo or Ribeira Brava is where we want to visit next, to see if they really do what they are saying.
The engineer is Meia Serra didn`t duck the difficult questions, it became obvious that he sees problems in the political arena which hamper a better solution in several areas.

David had the idea (confirmed by the engineer in Meia Serra) that prison labor could be used to collect fiteira/bracken and take it to Meia Serra to be turned into compost (which I think, could be sold by boat to Morocco). Many prisoners are allowed to work and leave the prison during the day.
Have a look at http://www.shs-pt.com, this is a small company in the Algarve which sells network-independent solar systems – no sale of electricity to the Casa da Luz, no license needed, therefore no problems.
Ursula wrote an email to the Diario to see if they have or will have news in regards to a new ferry connection form the mainland.

Olá Equipe,
tivemos uma boa reunião e rimos muito!
Desta vez, nosso associado membro Björn da Noruega veio, ele está aqui por uma semana.
Ursula informou que a parceria matéria-prima com fibras vegetais está em curso. Verena trouxe algumas informações sobre uma planta (Nesselfaser) que o projeto está olhando, mas não pode ser cultivada na Madeira, porque precisa de um clima mais seco. Nossa banana é perfeito, e propusemos algumas outras plantas.
Regina disse que há um mercado de agircultura todos os dias em S. Martinho (abaixo do cemitério) onde todos podem vender os seus produtos.
Agrobio organiza a “Feira Internacional da Agricultura Biológica” no Porto a partir de 30 novembro – 2 dezembro (http://www.agrobio.pt/pt/). Agrobio não é uma cooperativa, tem consumidores e cientistas como membros, mas também fornecedores (que pode usar o logotipo Agrobio para seus produtos.
Verena irá marcar uma reunião com alguns jovens agricultores que também estariam interessado a participar.
Verena trouxe algumas folhas de Eucalyptus citrodoria, tem cheiro de limão. Nós pedimos o Café de transformá-lo em um chá, que é semelhante ao chá de limão, mas com um sabor oleosa. As folhas podem ser utilizadas para sabonetes e espumas de banho. Também é um bom desinfectante .
Uma dica dos velhotes da Madeira: se você cobrir as batatas com folhas de eucalipto, não brotam e mantem-se fresco por quase um ano.
Outras coisas:
Info: ANA, a entidade pública proprietária dos aeroportos portugueses, vai ser vendido, e há indicações de que as taxas aeroportuárias poderão ser reduzidos. As taxas do porto na Madeira foram reduzidos, mas apenas em 10%.

Hello Team,
we had a good meeting and laughed a lot!
This time, our associate member Björn from Norway came, he is here for a week.
Ursula reported that the raw material partnership for plant fibers is ongoing. Verena brought some info about a plant (Nesselfaser) that the project is looking at but it cannot be cultivated in Madeira because it needs a dryer climate. Our banana is in, and we proposed some other plants. U
Regina said that there is a Farmer’s Market every day in S. Martinho (below the cemetery) now where everybody can sell their goods.
Agrobio organizes the “Feira Internacional da Agricultura Biologica” in Porto from Nov 30 to Dec 2nd (http://www.agrobio.pt/pt/). Agrobio is not a co-operative, it has consumers and scientiets as members but also suppliers.
Verena will set up a meeting with some young farmers who would also be interested to join.
Verena brought some leaves of Eucalyptus citrodoria, it smells of lemon. We thad the Café turn it into a tea, it is similar to lemon tea but with an oily aftertaste. The leaves can be used for soaps and bath foams. It is also a good desinfectant.
The old people in Madeira still have some good know-how: if you cover potatoes with eucalyptus leaves, they do not sprout and keep fresh for almost one year.
Other stuff:
Info: ANA, the public entity owning the Portuguese airports, will be sold, and there are indications that the airport fees could be lowered. The port fees in Madeira have been lowered but only by 10%.

Tivemos uma boa reunião!
Desta vez, Dennis (de Eurofinesco – impostos-para-estrangeiros) e sua esposa Maria José, um artista do Algarve, estavam presente também; vivem perto de Albufeira e estão em Funchal em alguns dias por mês.
Gonçalo vai importar Mata-Mosquitos (com luz ultravioleta que atrai mosquitos e mata-os com electricidade) e ver como se vendem.
Ursula informou que a parceria matéria-prima para fibras vegetais está em curso. A empresa alemã está a olhar para os nossos bananas e outras plantas. Este projecto envolve um monte de trabalho por alguns cientistas, felizmente nos não vamos ter que fazer muito.
Nós passamos muito tempo com a discussão dos argumentos contrários à solução híbrida. Dennis irá desenvolver esta ainda mais com seu advogado, e vai escrever um artigo sobre isso para Contraditório. Esta solução pode ajudar as pessoas que não podem obter hipotecas para comprar o imóvel de vendedores ou construtores que querem vender imoveis excedentes ao longo do tempo.
David teve outra grande idéia sobre uma competição internacional que poderia organizar na ilha, como o Rally e os campeonatos de canoagem, mas temos de falar sobre isso novamente para obter um melhor imagem disso.
David encontrou um site interessante, dê uma olhada: http://www.burpee.com/ Este é um grande fornecedor de sementes, com uma loja online.
Nós não foi possivel visitar a usina de reciclagem Meia Serra no inicio do mês porque David não conseguia sair da montanha – mau tempo. Assim Gonçalo organizou outra data em 28 de novembro. Favor entrar em contato com Gonçalo!

We had a good meeting!
This time, Dennis (from Eurofinesco – taxes-for foreigners) and his wife Maria José, an artist from the Algarve, attended too; they live near Albufeira and are in Funchal a few days every month.
Gonçalo is going to import Mosquito Killers (with UV light that attracts mosquitoes and kills them with electricity) and will see how the sell here.
Ursula reported that the raw material partnership for plant fibers is ongoing. The German company is looking at our bananas and other plants.This project involves a lot of work by some scientists, we won’t have to do that much.
We spent a lot of time with the discussion of the counter arguments to the hybrid solution (buying a property without a bank and without interest rates). Dennis will develop this further with his lawyer, and hopefully write a paper about it for Contraditório. This solution could help people who cannot get mortgages to buy property from sellers or developers who want to sell surplus property over time.
David had another great idea about an international competition we could organize on the island, like the Rally and the canoeing championships, but we have to speak about this again to get a better grip on it.
David found an interesting site: http://www.burpee.com/ This is a big supplier of seeds, with an online shop.
We couldn’t go to visit the Meia Serra recycling plant because David couldn’t get off the mountain – bad weather – so Gonçalo organized another date on Nov 28. Please get in touch with Gonçalo!

Reunião do Madeira Consórcio (Agricultura) 8.11.2012
Tivemos uma boa reunião, é pena que só poucos membros do grupo chegavam.
A parceria matéria-prima com fibras ainda está em curso, Ursula vai falar com o contato que tem viajado recentemente, no sábado,
Ursula também vai perseguir uma empresa local novamente, para apresentar a idéia de Stevia para a equipe de compras e produção e dar-lhes o sabor das folhas. Este será um projeto de longo prazo e a empresa em si pode ser a força motriz. Eles estão interessados em comprar mais produtos localmente.
Uns membros foram para o Porto na semana passada, eles visitaram uma fazenda de ervas com muito sucesso lá. A fazenda ainda exporta para a Suíça, o proprietário é tão ocupado com relações públicas e formação que já não pode cuidar das ervas si mesmo.

Os agricultores podem anunciar diretamente para o comprador, muito prático!
V. e Ursula vão organizar uma reunião com alguns jovens agricultores orgânicos, formados na universidade, que estão à procura de produtos e compradores.
E. conseguiu contato com o proprietário da empresa não máquina de café Nespresso de Velas, que está agora a tentar configurar o sistema com uma máquina mais barata, para que as famílias podem produzir repelente de mosquitos em velas de seu óleo de cozinha usado.
O sistema agora transforma o óleo em um pó de que se faz as velas. E. sugeriu ao contato para também encontrar uma maneira de transformar o óleo em sabão. Importante: é preciso ter o cheiro de citronela e andiroba para desviar os mosquitos.
Ursula enviou seu pedido para se tornar um membro do Contraditório – o que significa que o Madeira Consórcio, como “Best Practice Group” faz parte de uma associação oficial. D. está revendo o texto da Ursula antes que vai para Contraditorio.

We had a good meeting, it`s a pity not more of the group showed up.
Let`s see:
The raw material partnership with fibers is still ongoing, Ursula will speak to the contact who has been traveling lately, on Saturday,
Ursula will also go after a local company again, to present the Stevia idea to the purchasing and production team and give them taste of the leaves. This will be a long term project and the company itself can be the driving force. They are interested to buy more products locally.
Two of our members went to Porto last week, they visited a very successful herb farm there (cantinhodasaromaticas.blogspot.comand cantinhodasaromaticas.pt).The farm even exports to Switzerland, the owner is so busy with training and public relations that he misses tending to the herbs himself.
They were also inspired by a Welsh Lavender farm, http://www.welshlavender.com.
Ursula has the list of essential oils that the client in the Free Trade Zone cosmetics company wants to buy from us guaranteed and long term.
Ursula looked up some prices that are offered by several companies in Ali Baba, they are always with price ranges. The big surprise Chamomile oil has high prices:

Ursula will sent a list of our fruits and vegetables to the AHK to request a stand in the fair in Germany in April.

V and Ursula will organize a meeting with some young organic farmers, trained at the university, who are looking for products and buyers.
E. managed to contact the owner of the failed Nespresso Candle machine company, he is now trying to set up the system with a less expensive machine, again for households to produce mosquito-repellent candles out of their own used cooking oil.
The system now turns the oil into a powder from which to make the candles. E. suggested to the contact to also find a way to turn the oil into soap. Important: it needs to smell of Citronella and Andiroba to deflect the mosquitoes.
Ursula sent her application to become a member of Contraditório – which means that the Madeira Consorcio, as “best Practice Group” is then part of an official association. D. is reviewing Ursula`s text before it goes to Contraditorio.

Tivemos algumas grandes ideias novas à algum fumo saiu dos nossos ouvidos esta vez …
Ursula usou os cérebros do grupo para testar uma idéia para um sistema que elimine créditos bancários e pagamento de juros na transferência de uma propriedade de um vendedor a um comprador ao longo de dez anos. Ela vai levar os argumentos ao Dennis que irá mais desenvolver a idéia e, uma vez que a configuração funciona, publicá-lo através Contraditório. Neste momento de crise, quando os bancos não dão empréstimos, isso poderia dar ao mercado imobiliário um novo movimento.
Gonçalo organizou uma visita à fábrica de reciclagem na Meia Serra no dia 31 de outubro, às 10h30. David e Ursula iráo com ele, 2-3 mais pessoas podem participar (ponto de encontro na Cancela no Centro Empresarial,): Por favor, ligue a Ursula se você quer participar!

we had some great new ideas to ponder- our brains emitted smoke though the ears this time…
Ursula used the groups’ brains to test an idea for a system that would eliminate bank credits and interest payment on the transfer of a property from a seller to a buyer over ten years. She will take the arguments to Dennis who will develop the idea further and, once the setup works an is sound, publish it via Contraditório. In this time of crisis, when banks do not give out loans, this could get the real estate market moving again.
Gonçalo organised a visit to the Meia Serra recycling plant for Oct 31st at 10.30 am. David and Ursula will go with him, 2-3 more people can join (meeting point in Cancela in the Centro Empresarial: Please call Ursula if you want to join!

Hello Team,
we had a fun time, and some great new ideas!
Ursula reminded the group that AgroBio (www.agrobio.pt) has a low entrance fee at this time, and that membership also brings a “bio-label” for the members’ products, the site is very informative, and newsletters offer really good info, so it would be good for you to join!
Stefan is studying Bio-Agriculture at the university. In his class, there are many students who will take over their parents farm later but will want to know what to cultivate and where to find clients. We shall be able to draw on them when we have clients and need to fulfill orders.

Tivemos uma discussão interessante e muito divertido!
David trouxe um pouco de sua vinagre de pêra, feito das peras que colhemos juntos – muito bom! – e Egberto trouxe para alguns de nós o seu pão “Artisan“.
Falavamos sobre o plano de David de um sistema de produção / permacultura fechado. Ele agora vai envolver um advogado para ter certeza que ele pode fazer o que ele quer fazer sem quebrar as regras.
Em relação ao peixe que ele quer importar: com a crise actual da dengue, o governo está pensar em importar peixe para os tanques e lagoas onde se alimentam as larvas. Truta não é bom neste caso, porque eles precisam água fria, enquanto que as larvas são depositadas em água com temperaturas normais. Desta forma, pode ser permitido Tilapia em breve. (Sapos são muito eficazes também.)
Velas “Nespresso”: o link é http://www.oonsolutions.com/homepage/index.php. Esta empresa utiliza uma máquina semelhante ao sistema de café Nespresso para transformar óleo de cozinha usado em velas. A máquina (via Amazon) está fora de estoque no momento, a actividade da empresa está suspensa, devido a problemas financeiros. A ideia do Egberto era que nós poderíamos usar essa máquina para a produção de velas com citronela ou andiroba (usado no Brasil) para afastar os mosquitos que trazem agora a dengue. Ele vai entrar em contato com a empresa para ver se eles podem, com esta necessidade na Madeira, encontrar um outro investidor para re-iniciar a sua produção e produzir os partes necessários para produzir o cheiro da citronela e andiroba.
Também falamos sobre um Bolsa de Trocas, através horas ou de créditos . Um mercado de pulgas (feira de amizade) é uma troca de bens contra o dinheiro, uma troca sem dinheiro teria a vantagem que as mudanças não trazem impostos. Bolsas favorecem a economia local, há muitos exemplos de Intercâmbio na Europa. Isso precisa ser discutido;
Há uma troca pontual de mercadorias na Madeira em 21 de outubro, em Prazeres: “Feira de Trocas” Acredite na Natureza “, a partir da 15 h. As pessoas são convidadas a trazer legumes, sementes e frutas e outros produtos para troca. Haverá também aulas de yoga, workshops, massagens, shiatsu e música. Os participantes são convidados a trazer comida para uma refeição ligeira. O produto da Feira vai apoiar a Quinta Pedagógica em Prazeres. O programa completo pode ser visto no http://feiratrocasmadeira.wordpress.com/. Esta é uma boa ideia para um dia agradável em Prazeres!

AHK iniciativa – a cooperação com o “Corpus Culinario” associação na Alemanha
Corpus Culinario (http://www.corpus-culinario.de) tem uma exposição com degustação de comida para os seus membros, em torno de 70 lojas de lojas e correntes Gourmet.
A Câmara de Comércio bilateral (AHK) vai organizar o stand e cada empresa terá uma mesa.

We had an interesting discussion and a lot of fun!
David brought some of his pear vinegar, made from the pears we harvested together – very good! – and Egberto brought some of us his “Artisan” bread.
We spoke about David’s plan of a closed production/permaculture system. He will now involve a lawyer to make sure he can do what he wants to do without breaking any rules.
In regards to the fish he wants to import: with the current dengue crisis, the government is thinking of importing fish for the tanks and pond which feed on larvae. Trout is not good in this case because they need to live in cold water, whereas the larvae are deposited in water with normal temperatures. This way, Tilapia may be allowed soon. (Frogs are very effective as well)
“Nespresso” Candles: the link is http://www.oonsolutions.com/homepage/index.php. This company uses a machine similar to the Nespresso coffee system to turn used cooking oil into candles. The machine (via Amazon) is out of stock at the moment, the company activity is suspended, due to financial problems. Egberto’s idea was that we could use such a machine to produce candles with citronela or andiroba (used in Brazil) to chase away the Dengue carrying mosquitos. He will get in touch with the company to see if they can, with this need in Madeira, find another investor to re-start their production and produce the pods needed to supply the citronela and andiroba smell.
We also spoke about an Exchange system, via hours or credits. A flea market is an exchange of goods against money, an Exchange would have the advantage is that no money changes hands, ergo nor taxes can be applied. Exchanges favor a local economy, there are many examples of Exchanges in Europe. This needs to be discussed further.
There is a one-off exchange of goods in Madeira on Oct 21st in Prazeres: “Feira de Trocas ‘Believe in Nature’ as of 3pm. People are asked to bring vegetables , seeds, and fruit and other produce to exchange. There will also be yoga classes, workshops, massage, shiatsu and music. Participants are asked to bring food for a light meal. The proceeds of the Feira support the Quinta Pedagogica in Prazeres. The full program can be seen at http://feiratrocasmadeira.wordpress.com/ . This is a good idea for a nice day in Prazeres!

AHK initiative – cooperation with the “Corpus Culinario” association in Germany
Corpus Culinario (http://www.corpus-culinario.de) has an in-house exhibition with food tasting for its members, around 70 delicatessen shops and chains in Germany, It is the first time that Portugal will participate. The event is accompanied by the press, and renowned kitchen chefs are invited as well. Portugal will have a stand for 8-10 portuguese companies which can present their food (fruit & vegetables, spices, salt, cheeses, etc.), The bilateral Chamber of Commerce (AHK) will organize the stand and each company will have a table.
The Agriculture group will meet on Oct 18th .

Tivemos uma discussão muito animada, acima de tudo sobre o plano de David de um sistema de produção fechado, usando fiteira como combustível. Este sistema também permite a utilização de água cinza (resíduos) para regar as plantas. As pessoas (e também o Turismo) usam demasiado água em Portugal (6 x vezes mais do que na Alemanha!), E a água vai ficar mais caro.
Para configurar o seu sistema fechado, sem criar problemas mais tarde, David vai precisar de um bom advogado. Ursula vai se reunir com um advogado na próxima semana.
Ursula não ouviu nada ainda dos contactos na Alemanha (por causa de suas férias), ela fará o acompanhamento em relação às fibras e a exportação de frutas exóticas para a Alemanha.
Ursula testo num laboratório na cidade com um teste de água, foi rápido e eficiente, mas não analise conteúdo de plantas como o que precisa para os nosso fins. um outro laboratório faz isso. Ursula pediu Esmeralda de fornecer algumas folhas secas para um teste. Uma vez que temos as porcentagens dos ingredientes, podemos continuar a falar com os compradores alemães e se pagar um preço bom, começar a plantá-lo.
Fizemos uma lista de frutas exóticas nós podemos fornecer em conjunto para exportação para a Alemanha..
A associação:
Ursula se reuniu com Luis Faria de Contraditório. Contraditório tem 16 membros neste momento, alguns deles estrangeiros que vivem no exterior. Nós seriamos o “Business & Empreendedor Best Practice” grupo dentro Contraditório, .
Mais alguma coisa: teremos um Jantar de Natal na casa da Verena com comida Indiana (acerca 10 Euro p pessoa), ainda temos de determinar a data.

We had a very lively discussion, most of all about David*s plan of a closed production system, using Fiteira as fuel. David has now decided to turn the fiteira into bricks which can be burnt in any oven. Organic residue can be freeze-dried to use as fish feed. This system will also allow the use of grey (waste) water for watering plants. People (and also the Tourism business) use way too much water in Portugal (6 x times more than in Germany!), and it will get more expensive.
To set up his closed system without creating problems later, David will need a good lawyer. Ursula will meet with a lawyer next week.
Ursula has not heard anything yet from the contacts in Germany (they were hold about her holiday); she will follow up in regard to the fibers and the exotic fruit export to Germany
Ursula tested a lab downtown with a water test, it was fast and efficient, but they don’t anyliye plant contents like the one we need for our purposes. Another lab does this. Ursula asked Esmeralda do provide some dried leaves for a test. Once we have the percentages of the ingredients, we can continue to talk to the German buyers and if they pay a good price, start to plant it.
We made a list of exotic fruit we can supply together for export to Germany.
“Our” association:
Ursula met with Luis Faria from Contraditório .Contraditório actually has 16 members, some of them foreigners who live abroad. We would be the “Business & Entrepreneur Best Practice” group within Contraditório.
Another thing: We shall have a Christmas Dinner in Verena*s house with Indian food (around 10 Euro p. person), we still need to determine the date.
